Eco-Friendly Wedding Inspiration at Wanderwood Barn Venue in Maine

We are planning more weddings than ever in one particular state lately here at 'Cause We Can Events and we love it. In 2019, lead planner, Jessica moved to Maine. If you know us, you know we are fans of unique and adventurous weddings in breathtaking places. There are so many cool places to host weddings in the area so we make it an effort to discover new (or at least new to us) venues. Today, we are bringing you along for a styled wedding photo shoot. Our Maine team worked together to create the captivating, natural, and intimate wedding vision you are about to see. Keep reading to discover this eco-friendly wedding inspiration at Wanderwood barn venue in Maine!

About Wanderwood

Wanderwood is an intimate event venue and organic farm in Maine. The owners, Kelsey and Matt are passionate about sustainability making active efforts for the cause such as onsite composting and recycling onsite. They also grow their own flowers that are available for purchase on your wedding day! This venue even offers a farmhouse that can accommodate 8-10 guests for lodging. This is a wonderful way to experience the venue even more! Here are more details about hosting a wedding at Wanderwood:

  • Renovated and heated 1970s barn for hosting weddings
  • Accommodates up to 200 guests from May through October and up to 75 guests from November through April
  • Ideal for weekend weddings at the 95-acre property
  • Located 10 minutes away from downtown Damariscotta and Newcastle

After reading this blog, you can discover even more details about hosting a wedding at Wanderwood on their website.

Eco-Friendly Wedding Inspiration

Onto the wedding inspo! We utilized the beautiful outdoor space at Wanderwood for this styled shoot. A styled shoot is simply a photo shoot capturing a mock wedding. This is a great opportunity to introduce couples to new venues and local vendors. It can be super helpful to see a space in some type of "wedding" form when viewing it for the first time. Styled shoots make this possible!

One of our favorite local Maine photographers, Katelyn Mallet captured this day. We conceptualized a barn wedding day with an eco-friendly theme. A natural color palette, organic florals straight from the farm, and the intimate style all brought this idea to life. It is always fun to work with our wedding vendor friends to bring you creative inspiration.

Check out the final product!

Euphoria Wedding Inspiration at The Wedge Building in Nashville

In between weddings, our planners still find a way to be creative! I met up with a dream team of local Nashville vendors for a Euphoria styled-shoot. I, Gabby, am based in Nashville so it was nice to get together with other wedding vendors to create something just for fun! Like many of you, I couldn't stop watching the popular show earlier this year (let's talk about Season 2 on Instagram). As a wedding planner, the fashion, makeup, and sense of creativity stood out to me! I couldn't help but wonder how the show's style would translate to weddings.

This styled photo shoot took place in the springtime so you will see influences from the season along with themes from the show. I'll also be giving you a mini-virtual tour of the venue this all took place at - The Wedge Building! Whether you are looking for inspiration for your big day or are searching for your Nashville wedding venue, keep reading.

Let's take a look at this Euphoria wedding inspiration at the Wedge building in Nashville together!

The Wedge Building

The Wedge Building is an indoor industrial venue space. There is a coffee shop and art gallery next door so this venue is definitely for all of the artsy, creative couples out there! It is an open space ready to transform into your vision. The venue is a bit more intimate while still providing plenty of room for all of the traditional wedding events from the ceremony to the reception.

This space was perfect for this styled shoot because the vendors and I focused on creativity! We all challenged ourselves to take inspiration from the show Euphoria and our own spin on it. Of course, while following the general mood board we all worked together on starting on Pinterest. Take a look at the blank space below!

The Wedge Building Nashville

Invitation Suite

How cute is this invitation suite? We decided on a mix of different fonts and colors to ensure that the invitations weren't too uniform. I love the printed floral design detail! Didn't Gabrielle von Heyking do a fantastic job creating this flat lay photo? Gabrielle also captured this entire day!

Makeup & Outfits

The makeup in Euphoria is practically a character itself. The makeup plays an important role in representing each character's unique style and emotion. The same idea can be applied to a wedding look! For the makeup and the outfits, we went with bold, out-of-the-box looks that are modern and trendy.

Ceremony Decor

If there is one aspect of your wedding you can keep minimal without sacrificing your aesthetic, it's the ceremony. The first step is making sure you love the ceremony space before anything is added. The bright windows and industrial interior at The Wedge Building stood strong on their own! The addition of some colorful florals by New Mood Floral added that pop of color and texture needed for the ceremony. We added some clear acrylic chairs to complete the look.

By the way, I filmed all of the behind-the-scenes from this day on my YouTube Channel! Be sure to watch the video below for even more details after reading this blog:

Table Decor

The table decor is where you can see this palette shine. Can you spot the repurposed ceremony florals? Creativity was truly woven into this day! The dried floral place cards on each colorful place setting also make perfect guest favors. I still can't decide what my favorite part of this tablescape is.

Desserts & Drinks

Remember the carnival in season one of Euphoria? We had to include some cotton candy for this wedding inspiration. The cotton candy even dissolved beautifully into a sparkly champagne drink. Then, we included the classic wedding cake decorated as a piece of art. I hope you enjoyed reading all about this Euphoria styled shoot!

The Best Industrial Boho Elopement in Tennessee

Newly engaged? Welcome! We'd love to help create your adventurous wedding but dates are going fast. Inquire with us here so we can put your date on our calendar!

Earlier this year, we took a tour of a brand new Tennessee wedding venue, White Star Station. The industrial details and rich history sparked our creativity! So, we got to work. I (Gabby), teamed up with some of our favorite local vendors to create an intimate wedding vision. We incorporated our favorite boho themes with a bit of edge to balance out the industrial space. With the cooler months approaching, of course, there are some dreamy fall details in there as well! Ready for the best industrial boho elopement inspiration in Tennessee? Let's take a look!

Brides kissing at sweetheart table for indoor industrial boho elopement in Tennessee

The Couple

We have to take a moment to talk about the a-m-a-z-i-n-g real-life couple, Ali and Erin. They got engaged almost a year ago and we were so excited for them to model this styled shoot. This was a great way to offer a glimpse into what their wedding day might be like. They even got to try on dresses for the first time! Engaged couples, participating in styled photoshoots can be a fun and romantic way to celebrate being future newlyweds. You will have extra photos in wedding attire to look back on and may even find out more about your design likes and dislikes.

Invitation Suite

For the invitations, MEB Calligraphy created a modern neutral suite with subtle patterned details. For some more personalization and a pop of color, we added some artistic stamps. Look how stunning the flat lay photography turned out!

Wedding Attire

Aren't these gowns from White Lace and Promises meant for each other? We how seamless they are together for photos while remaining truly unique on their own. The future brides wore some cool boots with their dresses! To complete the looks, they accessorized with a dramatic full-length veil and lush bouquets. The natural glam beauty by Bangs and Blush polished the elopement looks!

Ceremony Details

Onto the ceremony details. An incredible floral piece by Thistle and Lace Florals stood as the focal point. We added a vintage rug and the design was complete. There isn't a need for complex decor with the chandeliers, natural light, and industrial brick walls at this venue!

Table Decor

As wedding planners, table decor always is one of our favorite design aspects. Here is where the vision for the day comes together through the details. First, we added a sage green runner and fall floral centerpiece. Romantic candles mix-matched bud vases filled the tablescape. For the place settings from Please Be Seated, it was all about the texture and layers. The final touch? Tassel name cards!

Reception Details

The Cake

Don't be afraid to try out some unexpected tones in your color palette! For this boho elopement vision, earthy and muted colors were at the forefront. However, to help lighten everything up and add some more romance, blush tones paired perfectly! This modern cake by All Mixed Up Cakes in the different pink colors was almost too pretty to eat. With the gold hoop arch from Blue Fish Event Rentals and some pampas grass, this made an excellent display!

This custom gold round bar comes with your wedding venue rental at White Star Station! With the addition of a vibrant neon sign from Knoxville Neon and the ceremony florals from earlier in the day, this was one of our favorite aspects from this elopement photoshoot.

Couple's Photos

To complete the day, Ali and Erin adventured outside of the venue with lovely photographer, Leah Bullard. The Downtown Maryville location is so charming. Right outside of the venue, there is even a butterfly mural for some unique photos!

Woodland Fall Elopement at Autumn Lane Estate in Maine

There really is nothing quite like an intimate elopement surrounded by nature. Today we are adventuring to Maine for the most dreamy woodsy elopement. This rustic boho design will surround you with the feeling of crisp autumn air with colorful fall tones and effortlessly romantic details.

Ready to escape to the forest with us? Keep reading to gather inspiration for your elopement vision!

Wedding Arch & Florals

This eco-friendly floral wedding arch seems to emerge from the ground, blending in perfectly with the fall surroundings. The florals were foraged locally in Maine, keeping the theme of the forest consistent. This is such a creative and sustainable way to honor the location of your elopement! The addition of dried textural elements like the seasonal leaves is so unique for this ceremony design.

The bridal bouquet was a continuation of the wedding arch following the colorful fall palette. A mix of warm marigold, burnt orange, deep reds, and blue tones brought pops of color to this elopement. If you are planning an outdoor wedding but want to include more colors, add in plenty of fresh florals to keep things inspired by nature!

Bride & Groom Attire

The bridal look was minimal and ethereal with a flowy floral length gown. For the bride's accessories, she wore dainty and modern jewelry pieces to complete her elopement look. The groom's muted blue suit was so chic, complementing the wedding florals.

The Barn & Lounge Decor

This sweet local barn at Autumn Lane Estate is the perfect Maine elopement location. It is a great spot for photography with a wooden backdrop and modern barn silhouette! Even with intimate elopements, adding a lounge area is a great way to extend your venue space. We added in a matching floral garland, a simple accent bench, and a vintage-inspired rug.

Table Design

How cute is this table design? We selected a two-tone wooden round table and chairs to place our fall decor. The cascading natural floral garland made a stunning centerpiece. We added organic-shaped plates layered between a real seasonal leaf to each place setting. The linen napkins and flatware remained simplistic to allow the place settings to shine.

The Cake

Let's talk about this beautiful cake! The minimal two-layered was decorated with sprigs of pampas grass and a piece of fresh fern with a few more fall florals at the base. We paired the cake with a simple wood cake stand. Of course, we couldn't resist having the bride capture a photo with the sweet treat!

Easy Halloween Dining Room Decorations

I may have started to decorate for Halloween in August this year but if you're just getting to it now, I have a fun idea for you! These Halloween decorations can be modified however you want with whatever you have in your home.

If you were following our blog recently, you saw that we hosted a Halloween Tablescape contest that featured over 20 amazing designs from some of our Instagram friends.

Well on today's blog, I wanted to zoom in on our design so you can take a look at all the fun details. I called this design my Werewolf Themed Tablescape because of that faux fur runner in the middle!

Special thank you to Darcy Ferris for coming over and getting photos of my tablescape! She's a talented photographer here in Nashville. She does everything from weddings to family sessions and now interior design photography haha.

List of Supplies

I'm not going to lie I started decorating in August this year woops. I happened to already own a few of the items you see in the images. I want to give you a proper list of what I bought so you can recreate this at home. As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases.

  • Faux-fur fabric. I purchased mine at Joann Fabrics
  • 6 Charger Plates. I got mine at Kirkland's on sale for $3 each.
  • Dinner plates & salad plates. I used the ones I had at home. You'll notice that I snuck some white ones in there because I didn't have enough black ones!
  • Napkins. I bought these at Kirkland's. Set of 4 for $16.
  • Bell Jars. I ordered these on Amazon because I knew I could reuse them for something else later! I ordered the 9.8" and the 5.9".
  • Black candle holders. I love these from Amazon.
  • Black candle sticks. I had these already but I know you can get some on Amazon as well.
  • Skull glasses. I found these at my local Dollar General but the quality isn't great. I found these way cooler ones on Amazon!
  • Cobwebs for the chandelier were from Amazon. I used them on my outdoor bushes too. You don't need a lot!
  • Bats for the wall. Another great Amazon find. They come with little double sided sticky things and I plan to reuse them next year too.
  • Science beakers. I used these to put my flowers in and I thought it looked really fun! Here are the ones I ordered.

Intimate Wedding in Montreal with Geode Cake

So you're having an intimate wedding in Montreal? Lucky you! A while back I had the pleasure of doing a styled shoot with some talented wedding vendors in my hometown of Montreal, Quebec. The shoot was picked up and featured on The Perfect Palette but I wanted to post some of the photos here and hope they give you some ideas for your upcoming intimate wedding or elopement! I'm especially excited for you to see the geode cake!

indigo and white invitation suite

The Ceremony

Vendors and our adorable bohemian couple came together at a cute (and very Quebecois) restaurant called Les Fillettes located in the heart of Montreal. The patio is absolutely perfect for a small ceremony up to 25 guests. I would recommend also serving a nice glass of champagne for everyone to enjoy while you say your "I Dos".

copper arch ceremony scroll on brick patio in Montreal

Let's talk about this ceremony backdrop for a hot second. Joy from Imagine Joy handmade this incredible wedding ceremony scroll which is basically a giant script with the couple's vows and love poems on it. Seriously stunning! What a great way to personalize a ceremony. I would also encourage couples to keep this and somehow incorporate it into their home design after the wedding.

white lanterns and antlers with fern by ceremony arch

The Table Top Design

We were really feeling inspired by tie dye for this wedding design. Believe it or not, I tie dyed these napkins myself! It was surprisingly easier than I thought. Maybe I can do a tutorial on it someday. Anyway, We wanted to bring in some woodsy elements like the wooden plates and pieces of ferns to decorate each place setting. I really like how it turned out. It has a really cozy yet boho vibe to it, don't you think?

The Dress & Suit

We wanted our bride and groom to look boho but not hobo! Our bride was wearing a gorgeous boho wedding gown with a front slip. We also added a fun hair piece and a hand chain to spice things up. Our handsome groom was in a dark navy suit and white shirt. We skipped the tie to make him feel more casual but added a spiky blue boutonniere for a little pizzaz.

The Geode Cake

No wedding is complete without a little sugar. This couple had one of the coolest geode cakes I've ever seen! This indigo and gold crystal cake has me drooling! At the same time, it's almost too pretty to touch. We topped it off with a "Cheers" cake topper and continued the celebration.

Hope this provided you with some fun boho inspiration for your own wedding!

Cool Mother’s Day Brunch

Moms are kind of a big deal. We all have one but they all look very different from one another. Much like a snowflake, every single mom is unique but we love them all the same. Today we're honoring all you tattooed, motorcycle riding, tough cookie moms! You deserve to have a Mother's Day Brunch that fits your personality. If 'Pretty in Pink' isn't your jam, maybe this 'Bad to the Bone' table design will suit your fancy.

The Invitations

You can't have a party without first sending out invitations. This whole design was inspired by those old school "I love my mom" tattoos. We decided to have the invitations incorporate that tattoo and here's how they turned out!

Unique place settings

This is your chance to get creative with the table design! We loved the idea of playing around with 70s style florals and prints. We always try to look at the invitation design and see if we can pull colors or patterns from there to bring into the place settings. For this Mother's Day Brunch, we pulled out the pink tones as well as the wildflower patterns into the plates and napkins. What do you think? We kept this a little edgy with black plates and black matte flatware.

Pop the bubbly

Congratulations! You've set the table and now you're ready to party! Invite your mom over, pop the bubbly and spend some quality time together. If your mom isn't close by, invite some friends (fur moms count too) and make it a fun friend gathering. Any excuse to have a party 😉

A Moody + Elegant St Patrick’s Day Dinner Party

St Patrick's Day is just around the corner which beer and silly hats? Not anymore! Now that we're all mature grown adults (we are, right?), we thought it was time to up our St Patrick's Day. Let's make it less of a drunken mess and more of a fun time to get together with friends for a dinner party!

St Patrick's Day dinner party with tall black candles and dark green napkins. Frames with greenery coming out adds a fun nature element to the design

Every good party starts with a beautiful invitation. We thought it would be fun to send along an Irish blessing with the invite as this day is also known as the Feast of St Patrick. How perfect!

Irish blessing written in gold on green paper. St Patrick's Day party invitation

We love the idea of incorporating nature whenever we can so creating a unique backdrop for this table was top of mind. The project was quite simple. We got a few frames, took out the glass and hung them on the wall with Command Strips to avoid any paint damage. Our talented florist played around with a few ferns and hanging plants to add that bit of nature to our art piece.

For the actual table top design, we skipped the cheesy leprechaun decor and chose to take this St Paddy's Day party idea to the next level. We wanted to recreate a sort of pub feel with darker place settings and touches of gold details. I can imagine the meal being served family style and all those candles being lit. Cozy, elegant and intimate. Wanna know a secret? See those black chargers under the plates? Well, it turns out those are serving trays. I saw them at La Pinata Rentals and thought they would be perfect for this!

St Patrick's Day dinner party with tall black candles and dark green napkins. Black matte chargers, olive green plates and brown top plates for a masculine yet classy St Paddy's Day Dinner Party.

Black charger, dark green plate and brown top plate for a st paddy's day party!

Did you notice the little charm on the napkins? We made those. We foraged for some clovers (while they weren't 4-leaf clovers, I still consider them lucky) and went to Michaels to get a gold backing in the jewelry section. We gently placed the clover on top of the gold backing and covered it with a clear "bubble sticker" also sold at Michaels. Tada!

It wouldn't be a St Patrick's Day party without a bar! We put together a simple but fun bar cart for this dinner party. Guests can help themselves to a Shamrockarita or Guinness Float.

BTS Desert Sunrise Shoot

Joshua Tree photoshoot

November has just been full of adventure! From visiting my brother in Stillwater, Oklahoma for Homecoming to a girls' weekend getaway in Palm Springs, I just can't get enough! One of my favorite adventures happened last week when myself and a few other #bossladies headed to Rim Rock Ranch for some SkipBo and wine...oh yeah and a really cool sunrise styled shoot. Here are a few iPhone sneak peek photos.

Spanish Inspired Shoot at Casino San Clemente

colorful wedding at San Clemente Casino

If you've ever had the chance to drive down the California Coast towards San Diego, you will pass by (and hopefully stop at) a beautiful little town called San Clemente. They have some of the most amazing ocean views, great food and friendly people. We had the pleasure of putting on a styled shoot at the historic San Clemente Casino and it was oh-so-dreamy.

We just loved the idea of combining bright colors with darker fall hues for the reception tables. The venue itself was so beautiful that we really didn't need too much to decorate other than some great rentals from Thrifted Sisters Vintage Rentals, classic dishes by Dish Wish and of course, beautiful blooms by Barnes Botanicals.

Ok shall we talk about the desert bar for a second?! Not only did Sugar Cloud make a masterpiece of a cake, but we also got some delicious churros and fresh figs to complete the table.
