Point Vicente Interpretive Center Summer Wedding

Summer Wedding at Point Vicente Interpretive Center

Sonia and Graham knew right away that their wedding needed to be at Point Vicente Interpretive Center in Palos Verdes, CA. It was a perfect location for their wedding count of 100 guests and close to where they were living. With it being so close, Sonia and Graham would often picnic in the area leading up to their wedding. Point Vicente Interpretive Center offers a ceremony location, great views of the ocean and light house, ample parking and not to mention indoor and outdoor reception space.

Coastal Wedding Invitation

Invitations are always the first thing your guests see that will give them some insight on what to expect for your wedding day. Sonia and Graham decided they wanted to keep it eco friendly and sent out invitations via Greenvelope. The process was so easy that we now often suggest it to our clients for Save the Dates and wedding invites! You can quickly send any updates to your guests with a click of a button, track RSVPs and remind people gently that the deadline is coming up to say yes or no. Not to mention, it's a great way to collect  updated addresses for future invitations, thank you or holiday cards.

First Look at Terranea Resort

We love a first look! I often recommend them to the client who is a bit looking for an intimate moment on their wedding day. It allows for a moment together to take it all in. You're about to get married so why not share a drink, a tear and a kiss before? Sonia and Graham chose to stay at Terranea Resort in Palos Verdes the weekend of their wedding! It was the perfect get away and staycation before, during and after the wedding! They were both able to get ready in their suite with friends and family plus do a first look on the grounds.

Friends Who Get Things Done

You can tell Sonia and Graham have created a great community of friends. Get yourself a best man who's also your hype man (see photo below). They're friends helped set the vibe of the wedding the entire day! From chauffeuring them in an antique car, to hyping up the first kiss as Mr. & Mrs., to baking the most beautiful pie! To be honest, I really enjoyed my time planning their wedding with them as well. They are some of the kindest people I have come across and a lot of fun. It made planning a breeze and the wedding day so much fun for the entire team too.

Choreographed Dances

Sonia is a dancer, which is so fun, as she wanted to incorporate that in her wedding day. She surprised everyone with a dance performance with friends! It was the perfect way to get the dance party started... It also helps when most of the crowd knows how to dance and your friend is the DJ.

Decor & Personal Details

Sonia and Graham did a great job incorporating personal touches throughout their wedding day. Their bar offered signature drinks dedicated to their pup, Moose, and their travel trailer they built by hand. The welcome table was fully equipped with travel themed decor as well as a polaroid camera and guest book for guests to sign. The reception tables were lined with beautiful colored glassware, floral arrangements and handmade place cards at each setting.

Wedding days like Sonia & Graham are always a simple reminder of why we do what we do. We get to create a special moment for a couple who deserve nothing but happiness and love in a place that they visit often with friends and family they adore.

As we all know, it takes a team to pull off such a fun day. Thanks to the people we worked with on Sonia & Graham's wedding day!

Alternative Wedding with Tattoos, Arcade Games and Smoke Bombs!

If this wedding doesn't make you want to party, then I don't know what will. They had everything you need for a killer wedding party: good food, good drinks and good music. However, what really made their reception go from good to EPIC was the surprise entertainment for guests at the end. Check it out!

Getting Ready

The bride and her tribe got ready in the cute loft area of their wedding venue, Smoky Hollow Studios. The bride did her own makeup because, listen, when you know how to do good makeup you just do it yourself amiright?! Can we talk about those leather jackets tho? Holy smokes! The bride printed the pattern and painted them herself.

The guys don't require quite as much "getting ready time" so we took them out for a little photoshoot after they got their suits on. You might be thinking "wow these guys look like they could be in a band together". Spoiler alert: they are! P.S Tyler is a fellow Canadian so I really appreciated his socks.

The Ceremony

The walk down the aisle was both dramatic and romantic. I love that Katy chose a really glam ballgown with a sweetheart neckline to show off her tattoos. Her moody bouquet with deep tones paired so well with the edginess of the venue too.

The Details

When designing this wedding I knew the couple wanted to incorporate deep red tones, greenery and use the industrial vibe of the venue to their advantage. We opted for black dinner plates, deep red napkins and edgy glassware on long wooden farm tables.

Surprise Entertainment

Ok so I know you're really wondering "what was the surprise entertainment"?? Well folks, here you go! Feast your eyes on what made this wedding the MOST fun: ARCADE GAMES! They had everything from skee ball to Jurassic Park and even Mortal Combat!

The Grand Exit

This wedding was all about having an epic time and after tearing up the dance floor, playing arcade games, eating cake and desserts, it was time to say good bye. Don't worry, the bride and groom went out with a BANG...literally!

Bohemian Wedding at Smoky Hollow Studios

Kate said she wanted a man that was smart, funny, handsome, and from the South. Lucky for her, she found her dream man! Clem checked all the boxes off on her list, and he lived right here in the South Bay. It was only fitting that they celebrate their love locally with their friends and family, and they could not have picked a more perfect venue: Smoky Hollow Studios.

Getting Ready

Kate and Clem got ready at their home nearby, but arrived at Smoky Hollow Studios a bit earlier to take some pre-ceremony photos with each other and with the bridal party. A couple things I love about this venue is the upstairs loft that we used as the bridal suite, and the fact that the exterior is so beautiful and has so many cool places for photos. Check them out below!

The Ceremony

The ceremony took place on the patio right outside the studio. Guests gathered around on the patio while the couple exchanged vows from inside. From where we stood, this was our view. It was definitely cozy but it made for a very intimate setting.

From guests’ point of view, the couple actually stood above eye-level because the studio itself is on raised grounds. With the sunlight hitting perfectly and the beautiful interior of the venue in the background, it made it so much easier to ooh and ahh about this special moment—and so hard not to cry!

The Reception

Another thing I love about this venue is that we were able to create the ceremony and reception in one space. So after the ceremony, guests came back inside for the reception. Take a close look at some of the details of this bohemian-themed wedding. All the furniture, tables chairs, bars, couches etc. are included in the venue which is really amazing.

Party time!

After a delicious BBQ dinner from Baby Blues BBQ, it was time to party! I can’t remember the last time I had so much fun just WATCHING everyone have fun! This crowd sang and danced the night away to classics and when I tell you that everyone was on the dance floor, I mean EVERYONE!

The Cake

This couple decided not to have the big traditional wedding cake. Instead, they went for something smaller, tastier, and easier to eat (and cut!) – good ol’ Sweet Potato Pie! They also had several mini pies as desserts for guests, all from Know Reality Pie.

Spicy Love Wedding at Smoky Hollow Studios

Sweet Love is so passé, Spicy love is what 2017 was all about! I had a blast working with Leslie and Matt on their Smoky Hollow Studio wedding back in October. As a couple, Matt and Leslie were hilarious and so easy to work with. A wedding planner's dream couple if you ask me! This wedding was fully of beautiful traditions, a ton of creativity but also a bit of edginess.

Getting ready in style

The gang started their getting ready party at nearby hotel but met up in the ultra cool bridal suite at Smoky Hollow Studios for photos. I just love the moodiness and texture that this bridal suite has. Although you're only allow to have 20 people up there at a time, it's perfect for bridal party photos!

Romantic ceremony

While everyone was getting dolled up, the 'Cause We Can Events team was busy setting up for the ceremony downstairs. We had about 100 guests attending this wedding which was perfect for this venue. We set up the ceremony chairs in front of the big glass garage doors which allowed for a nice long walk down the aisle. Once the ceremony was over, we just needed to flip the space into the reception by placing the same chairs at the tables.

Reception details + cocktails

While the newlyweds and their families took photos all around the wedding venue, the guests got to enjoy some yummy cocktails crafted by Cali Craft Cocktails. Leslie and Matt had a lot of cute and personalized details. From their original post card sign in book to their chalkboard art, they thought of it all. One of the coolest details though, were the centerpieces. Each table had a lantern and inside was a vintage cake topper that from past weddings or great thrift store finds. How freakin' cool is that!?

Get this party started!

Turn it up Mr. DJ! After a delicious dinner and unforgettable speeches from some of their favorite people, Leslie and Matt cut their cake and hit the dance floor! As the night started to wind down, we gathered all the guests outside for a very special Grand Exit. Any guesses on what it was?

Alli + Rob’s Smoky Hollow Studios Wedding

There are so many things I love about this Smoky Hollow Studios wedding but one of my favorites was that this local Hermosa Beach couple made it a priority to have great speeches. I know that's pretty much impossible to show you in photos but, trust me, they were EPIC!

Smoky Hollow Studios wedding at sunset

Like any great wedding, the day started out with the girls getting ready at the brand new ocean front Redondo Beach Shade Hotel. Armed with cute rompers and a glass of champagne, the bride and her bridesmaids got their hair and makeup done by the lovely Emerald of Makeup by Emerald M.

The bright floral bouquet by Floret Moon Designs with all of its different shades of pink and green really popped against Alli's ivory dress. The invitation suite matched the whole color palette perfectly and added that extra touch of detail.

Meanwhile, Rob and his groomsmen were putting on their jackets, tightening their ties and putting the finishing touches on their groomsmen attires.

The First Look took place in front of a really cool live succulent wall on one of the Shade Hotel patios. Although it was quite windy, Chloe Moore managed to capture some really sweet moments between the soon-to-be newlyweds.

After some cute photos, the couple and their bridal party headed to the ceremony and reception site, Smoky Hollows Studio in El Segundo. This venue is a warehouse meets trendy rustic studio right in the heart of the South Bay. It's filled with plants and a ton of cool eclectic decor. Alli and Rob, who brew their own beer, had branded pint glasses, farmhouse napkins and colorful floral arrangements on long wooden farm tables. The ceremony arch was a giant macrame backdrop surrounded by greenery and ferns. Such a great look!

The ceremony itself was both sweet and funny. I don't think there was a single dry eye in the room. Once Alli and Rob were pronounced husband and wife, guests were given a margarita and Border Grill was ready with some delicious food!
