When they say Southern California wedding season is year round, they -whoever they are- would be correct! This year we were lucky enough to do a couple January weddings and one of them was at my favorite South Bay venue, Smoky Hollow Studios.
Getting Ready in Style
I would say it's not impossible to have a fully outdoor wedding in January but it's definitely risky! Clare and Vito decided to place it safe and opted to have their ceremony at the stunning St Monica's Catholic Church followed by a trendy and modern reception at Smoky Hollow Studios. But first, the bride and groom got ready at the Palihouse in Santa Monica which is such a cool space!
The Ceremony
It was my first time at the St Monica's Catholic Church and I was in awe. This 132 year old church is full of life and has incredible details on the inside.
Romantic Beach Photos
After the ceremony, the bride and groom stopped by the beach for some romantic photos before being shuttled to the reception venue for dinner and dancing!
I always love when photographers use the brick walls and metal structures around Smoky Hollow Studios for photos. It gives the wedding an edgy yet modern look to it.
Navy and White Reception Details
The bride spent a lot of time thinking about her wedding details and it was so worth it! Check out the fun navy and glitter details sprinkled around the reception space.
The Cake
Let's take a look at this cake, shall we? I love how simple it was but how well it went with the rest of the decor. Along with "hangover kits" and much needed dancing flip flops, each guest got to leave with a key that doubled as a bottle opener as their favor. How cool is that!
And then they lived happily ever after!
