Intimate Farm-to-Table wedding in Maine

Caroline and Adam's Tops'l Farm wedding was an adventure but we wouldn't have it any other way! These are the kinds of wedding that guests and couples will remember.

Our planning team loves a challenge whether it be a quick planning timeframe (how about 4-months?) or a hurricane in the forecast (hello, Hurricane Lee!), we are excited by the challenge and love to create a weekend that is true to the couple. Caroline & Adam wanted to create an intimate wedding weekend that included their kids, something that felt outdoorsy and Maine-inspired. With that, we set out to plan a cozy glamping weekend at Tops’l Farms in Maine.

A wedding during a Hurricane

Caroline and Adam’s wedding was an intimate gathering, attended by 70 of their nearest and dearest. As the planner team, we had the opportunity to craft a truly unforgettable event in just four short months. Little did we know that we would be put to the test by none other than Hurricane Lee in the week leading up to the wedding!

As the storm clouds gathered, our East Coast planning team sprung into action. We always plan for weather back up layouts and timelines, however, a hurricane looming over us, we had to secure backup plans to ensure the day would unfold smoothly. We found an indoor ceremony spot, worked with the Tops’l Team to arrange for a backup generator to keep the power humming, and prepared for a surprise silent disco in the woods that would be the perfect finale.

Welcome Dinner with Tacos and Yard Games

The wedding weekend kicked off on a blissful note, setting the stage for the adventure ahead. Friday saw us savoring mouthwatering tacos in the Tops’l Farm barn, where guests enthusiastically participated in lively yard games. Laughter filled the air as friends and family mingled, setting the tone for a joyful celebration.

Check out the elevated picnic look of the rehearsal dinner tables. We love the plaid napkins paired with simple wildflower bud vases to add a little farm-to-table elegance.

Embracing Storms on your Wedding Day

Saturday greeted us with stormy weather, but the power held steady. Caroline, Adam, and their guests faced the elements with remarkable spirit and positive attitude. We gathered on a cozy covered porch at Tops’l Farm for the ceremony, where the couple exchanged heartfelt vows. Following this, we seamlessly transitioned into a delightful cocktail hour featuring local oysters and locally sourced cocktails.

The day’s highlight was an exquisite BBQ feast in the barn, adorned with stunning flowers by the talented Lindsay from Eldebery Florals. Every moment was beautifully captured by Lauren Currie through her photography, and the Better Half Films team caught the day on video.

For the reception decor, we went with a soft white and pink floral palette and embraced the wood accents that the venue already had. We added a fun paper oyster name card on top of the menu cards which guests thoroughly enjoyed.

Planning tip: Rent fun water carafes or make your own out of wine bottles to add to your table decor!

Despite the bad weather outside, the barn transformed into a haven of warmth and celebration, with an epic dance party ignited by DJ Omari Hayles! We love seeing our couples and their guests let loose on the dance floor. This is about the time your planning team will breathe a sigh of relief 🙂

Sunday Farewell Brunch

Sunday graced us with perfect Maine weather (of course!), allowing everyone to gather once more for a private breakfast at Water Street Kitchen and Bar in Wiscasset. It was a perfectly serene ending to a whirlwind weekend.
