Summer Wedding at a Midcoast Maine Inn

Allison and Jimmy's midcoast Maine wedding at Squire Tarbox Inn was a simple but definitely not understated. This beautiful celebration of love was what a Maine summer wedding is all about.

We love a midcoast Maine wedding at the picturesque Squire Tarbox Inn! On July 22, 2023, amidst the breathtaking landscapes and coastal charm of Westport Island, Allison & Jimmy tied the knot surrounded by 80 of their closest friends and family. From the quintessential summer dinner on Friday filled with wild flowers and candles to the joyous wedding day on Saturday, every moment of their celebration was filled with love and laughter.

The Midcoast Maine Venue: Squire Tarbox Inn

Nestled on 12 pastoral acres with a rich history dating back to the 1700s, Squire Tarbox Inn served as the idyllic backdrop for Allison and Jimmy’s wedding. With its rustic elegance and New England charm, the inn provided the perfect setting for an intimate celebration. The lush landscapes, cozy event barn, and sweeping willow tree created an enchanting ambiance that left guests in awe. This hidden gem allowed the couple to escape the bustle of everyday life and indulge in a serene and magical wedding weekend.

Colorful details for a Summer wedding

It’s worth mentioning and showing you the colorful details from this wedding. Pops of colors made an entrance via the florals, escort card and food. The venue really didn’t need much but it’s always nice to add elements like this to personalize each wedding and bring in some vibrancy.

Planner Tip: Don’t underestimate the power of “food decor”! Sometimes a colorful plated salad can help add pops on your dining tables without having a ton of florals.

Summer Weekend Wedding Itinerary

The celebration began with a heartwarming welcome dinner on Friday evening, catered by Bread & Butter Catering. Allison and Jimmy’s guests gathered in the 1820s barn for mingling, sharing stories, and forming new connections. The air was filled with anticipation and excitement for the beautiful day ahead! The event felt intimate and relaxed even with some night time rain showers headed their way.

Saturday, the much-awaited wedding day, graced the couple with good weather and sunny skies. The morning was filled with excitement and a touch of nerves as Allison and Jimmy prepared for their wedding day. 22 guests stayed onsite at the Squire Tarbox Inn while other guests stayed in nearby Airbnbs and hotels. As guests were transported to the island on Saturday, the wedding ceremony was held at the back lawn under a beautiful and sweeping willow tree.

From there, Applecroft Catering put on a show by cooking appetizers on an open flame for guests to enjoy during cocktail hour. The couple chose to have a longer cocktail hour which allowed for them to sneak away for some photos with Katelyn Mallett but also enjoy the company of their friends and family. The wedding dinner was hosted in the barn which felt intimate and summery.. With minimal decor in place, the family style dinner took the spotlight for the moment. With all local and fresh ingredients, guests dined leisurely.

As the sun set over the beautiful Maine landscape, the celebration transitioned into an unforgettable dance party. Allison and Jimmy’s friends and family took to the dance floor after we snuck the newlyweds out for sunset photos of course!
